Peer Support

What is Peer Support?
The aim:
- To encourage support groups where year 9 students can talk about
problems they have as they settle into secondary school.
- Peer Support is a programme designed to help develop a school where all
people are valued by encouraging strong links between senior (Year 13) and junior (Year 9) students. Year 13 trained Peer Support leaders work in teams of 8 with a year 9 class in 1 hour sessions during Term 1.
- Peer Support improves understanding and communication between students and builds friendships that help them settle into a new school, providing opportunities where students can learn about each other.
- Senior students are given real responsibility in caring for and leading others and the training develops relationship and leadership skills that are a major benefit to all students.
